이연정 작가은 인간의 피부와 사물의 표면이 서로 닮아가며 기억과 감각을 간직하는 방식을 탐구하는 작가다. 그는 신체와 사물의 파편, 불분명한 실루엣을 겹치고 콘테, 인조가죽, 모래, 찰흙 같은 이질적인 재료를 긁고 문질러 또 하나의 피부를 만든다. 화면에 솟거나 번진 흔적은 발진처럼 내부와 외부의 관계를 드러내며, 낡은 문과 벽, 손때 묻은 사물에 남은 시간을 부재한 몸의 온기와 감각으로 되돌린다.
Lee Yeonjeong is an artist who explores ways in which human skin and the surfaces of objects come to resemble one another while holding memory and sensation. She layers bodily fragments and ambiguous silhouettes with materials such as Conté, synthetic leather, sand, and clay, scratching and rubbing them into another skin. Marks that rise or spread across the surface register inner and outer forces like a rash, transforming traces on doors, walls, and objects into the warmth of an absent body.
