Sangmin Oh (b. 1994, KR) has been experimenting with the sculptural potential of fabric by expanding flat fabrics into three-dimensional forms. Based on the material properties and characteristics of various fabrics, Oh weaves narratives into each work, building a unique and personal artistic world. In particular, his concept of “Narrative Threads” incorporates storytelling through the processes of weaving, layering, and transforming threads and yarns, visualizing the complex networks of relationships in society. The artist is deeply interested in the relationship between humans and the environment, and has been exploring methods for sustainable artistic practice.
Sangmin Oh(b.1994) studied Public Private at the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Oh has held solo exhibitions at venues such as RE;CODE Cheongdam (2024) and Rebirth Jeju (2023), and participated in many local and international projects and group exhibitions including the Re;Code & Kolon Industries Aramid Yarn Recycling Project, Doen Do (Rotterdam, Netherlands), Open Studio (Rotterdam, Netherlands), Alcova Milano (Milan, Italy), and Amsterdam Rai (Amsterdam, Netherlands).
